The team physician for Alpharetta High School is David Marshall, MD. Dr Marshall is a primary care sports medicine specialist with Children’s Orthopaedics of Atlanta. He also is the Medical Director of Sports Medicine at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He has served in both roles since coming to Atlanta in 2001. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, attended the University of Akron for undergraduate studies and completed medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University under a full United States Navy scholarship. He practiced general pediatrics in the Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander, spent 3 years as an assistant professor at the University of Michigan and then completed a sports medicine fellowship prior to moving to Atlanta. He is currently board certified in general pediatrics and sports medicine. His interests include all non-surgical sports injuries in adolescents, concussions, and strength training in adolescents. He has spoken at the local and national level and was invited as a guest sports medicine professor in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2011. He has recently appeared on CNN, Fox Sports South, The Weather Channel and WSB speaking about various youth sports topics.
He is a clinical assistant professor in the Dept of Pediatrics at Emory School of Medicine, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Sports Medicine and Fitness, and is a member of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Medical Advisory Committee.
He lives in Sandy Springs , with his wife, Kelley, a pediatric radiologist with CHOA/Emory and their 2 children, Grant, 16 and Kara, 12.
