Multiple Teams · IMPORTANT: AHS Baseball Schedule For The Next Two Weeks (Monday, January 7th through Sunday, January 20th)

TRYOUTS BEGIN JANUARY 14TH (THIS IS A REGULAR SCHOOL DAY)

Greetings and Happy New Year

I hope all of you had a great break from school and are ready to get started with baseball this season. We have all put in lots of time and energy this fall prepping and preparing ourselves for the upcoming season. This to say the least has been a busy fall and we are looking forward to settling down and getting on the field to play some baseball. We have a great group of young men again this year who could and should be able to make a playoff push again. We have worked hard for the last few years establishing our program. We need to all be focused and ready to continue the programs direction and improvement. We have a veteran pitching staff which looks to be our foundation this year. Good pitching and defense is what will win games.

Unfortunately, we have had a setback in our facilities. With the record amount of rain we have received over the last 2 months we did suffer a flood in our hitting barn on 2 different days recently. The water has found its way through the retention wall soaking the carpet in the building. As of right now its cleaned up and drying out, we are looking into the long term fix for the problem.

In order to tryout players must have a current physical exam (dated and stamped by a Doctor less than one year ago). Many of you have put this information into Arbiter already. If you played a different sport this year please make sure you have joined the baseball team in Arbiter.   Click Here for Arbiter Instructions.  Please keep up with the date of your physical. The system notifies the Athletic department when a player physical expires and at that point they would not be allowed to practice or participate in games until cleared again. Check your clearance in Arbiter when you get a chance, I looked at the list today and there are still some players that are not cleared.

The week of January 7th – 12th we will have the facility available for players to use, depending on weather and conditions. We will not return to the weight room till after the tryouts have concluded. Players should be following the throwing program or have been throwing building up to tryouts. It becomes extremely hard to truly evaluate a player if they are not able to throw.

January 14th is the first day for on field tryouts.

The locker room facility in the gym will be accessible during tryouts. Players can leave baseball equipment there overnight.

Over the first three years we have had tremendous gains, and this year will be no different. Our focus as a coaching staff will be to continue player development as individuals and in the team concept.

I say this every year, but this time will fly by and before we know it we will be having our awards night and the season will be over. So please enjoy the season and the time we will all share together for the next 5 months.

If your son is selected for the baseball team we will have our parents meeting Tuesday January 22nd at 7:00pm in the media center. This is a Dugout Club meeting where we will go over the season and finalize the budget as well as collect dugout club fees. Player participation fees (the check normally written to AHS for $250.00) will now be collected online through the OSP system with no service fee attached. You will receive the information later on how to make that payment.
