Your 2016 Coaching Staff:
FACULTY HEAD COACH: (Coach Bolt will facilitate all program logistics and supervision allowing for our assistant coaching staff members to focus on coaching)
Hello, I am Karen Bolt and will be serving as the Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach this coming season. I am the Department Chair of Counseling at Alpharetta High School. I have been at AHS since we opened. I have previous coaching experience in JV side line and competition cheerleading. I was also the AHS Equestrian Team sponsor for four years. I have no experience with lacrosse but my personal goals are to learn all about the sport and to improve communication through our website! Our coaching team’s goal for the AHS Women’s Lacrosse team is to continue to create a competitive program.
My name is Megan Dye. I am a 5th grade teacher at Notre Dame Academy in Duluth,Ga. I am excited to be returning to coachLacrosse at Alpharetta High School. Although this will be my 5th season coaching, my ties to the program go way back to the inaugural season, when I played on the very first women’s lacrosse team at AHS. Upon graduating from Auburn University I returned to the program as a coach. It has been amazing to watch as the program has developed into what it is today. As a JV coach, I strive to build a love for the game in each of our players, while working to develop skills that will allow us to be competitive in an area that will stand for nothing less. I am looking forward to a successful season filled with fun, learning, and enthusiasm! Go Raiders!
My name is Kendall Smither and am currently a first year biology teacher at Alpharetta High School. I began playing lacrosse when I was in sixth grade and continued on as a four year varsity letterman at Centennial High School. After high school I played leisurely at Auburn University. This will be my first year coaching, but am so excited for what this program has to offer. As a coach (and teacher) I strive to make the girls excited about the sport, to make it to be something they truly enjoy, while adding a competitive edge. I’m thrilled to be joining the Raider Lacrosse community, and hope to offer as much support to the program, and players, as possible.
My name is Angela Gao, and I will be your student’s Junior Varsity (head/assistant) coach this year. My goals this year are to build a sense of community within the team while we hone our stick and field skills, practice how to work together as a single unit, and improve my own skills as a coach. My history in lacrosse began when I was at Alpharetta High School. I, too, played under Coach Cantrell and Coach Rutledge for the duration of my entire high school career. Needless to say, the program left such a strong, positive impact on my life that I have returned to hopefully provide the girls with the same experience I was fortunate enough to have. This summer I had the opportunity to coach the summer program and meet some of the players, and am looking forward to see them again this season. My vision for the Raider lacrosse community is to rebuild our program’s reputation through cooperation and collaboration between coaches, parents, and players. I am looking forward to a great season this spring!
Currently I work at North Fulton Hospital in the Pain and Spine Center, doing new patient admissions and medical records. I played lacrosse all four years of high school and for two years in college, at Oregon State University. I have coached middle school/feeder teams for the past two years, most recently I coached one of Milton’s feeder teams. My personal goal as a coach this year is to take all my prior experience and transition into coaching at a higher level. I hope to bring new drills/plays to the team, that may not have been used in the past. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the girls this season!
