NFFTD Club 2014 Year-End Award Players of the Year Winners

Alpharetta, GA – January 8, 2015 – The North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club honored the top eight 2014 year-end award winners at a banquet held at the Lanier Tech Forsyth Conference Center December 18, 2014. Award winning broadcaster, Sam Crenshaw, was the emcee for the evening’s festivities and James West, former Oakland Raiders and Calgary Stampeders player, was the special guest speaker.

Special Teams Player of the Year – Ryan Kopec (Alpharetta HS)

Senior Special Teams player, Ryan Kopec, had season stats of 6 for 13 on field goal attempts, 4-4 inside the 30 with his longest at 46 yards.  37 for 44 when it comes to extra points. 63 Kick-offs with 23 as touchbacks.  He had 13 punt returns with a TD return during the Chattahoochee game that helped turn the game around for a Alpharetta victory.  Ryan was also a starting wide receiver with 28 reception totaling 490 yards and 4 Touchdowns.  However, his punting skills were his greatest asset to his team.  42 punts for the year averaging 35.1 yards.  Of the 42 punts, 21 were inside the 20.

Alpharetta Head Coach, Jacob Nichols, says, “Ryan does a little bit of everything for our team. He is our leading receiver, kicker, punter and has recently taken over as punt

returner. No matter what the situation or who the opponent is, Ryan always finds a way

to make an impact on the game. The best part is, he always does it with a smile on his face and a competitive spirit in his heart. He has basically served as one of the major pace-setters for our entire team this season. His work-ethic and motivation are unmatched by any player I have ever coached.

 

Head Coach of the Year – Jacob Nichols (Alpharetta HS)

First year Alpharetta HS Head Coach, Jacob Nichols, was undefeated in Region Play going (9-0). He had the 1st 10 win season in school history and guided his team to the #2 ranked defense in Georgia and the #15 ranked team overall in Georgia in class 6A. He received the honor of Region 6-6A Coach of the Year.  His players have received over 30 D1 offers.

Eric Douglas, NFFTD Club Executive Director says “He exemplifies the adage, Never miss an opportunity to praise someone and never take advantage of an opportunity to criticize someone.” He demonstrated unmatched support of his team, players and parents ensuring, they were represented at every NFFTD Club function from Pre-Season Media-Day to the monthly Awards dinners, nominating and advocating for his players for worthy awards and the Chamber Bowl All-Star Experience, while attending these events personally.

Alpharetta AD, Mike Scheifflee, says about his Head Coach, “He has exceeded expectations as a first year head coach and is moving our program in a direction of continued success.  He is a role model and leader amongst his peers who is truly passionate about his athletes and his program.  Our school’s football program is better than ever because of the contributions and leadership of this coach.”
