Game Recap

Facing a strengthened squad in the Pope Lady Greyhounds, our Lady Raiders came home with a hard-fought win Tuesday night by the score of 53-47. Lead by Chandler Davis’ 15 points and JuJu Maduka’s double double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, the Lady Raiders prevailed in a game that saw the two teams even at the half and end of the 3rd quarter. Excellent guard play by Croix Bethune, Jalyn Tillerson and Kendall Phillips helped shut the Lady Greyhounds’ offense down, enabling our Lady Raiders to open a lead midway through the 4th quarter that they didn’t relinquish.

Croix and Jalyn both dropped 9 points, followed by Gogo Maduka, Grace Knutsen and Kendall Phillips with 2 each to round out the scoring.

The Lady Raiders play at home this Friday against Centennial. Get to the gym to cheer our 9-2 team on for their game at 6:00 pm.

In Junior Varsity play, the Lady Raiders improved to 6-2 with a convincing 42-29 win. Employing an effective full court press for extended periods during the game led to several Pope turnovers and a shooting advantage for the Lady JV Raiders with the girls hitting baskets from every area of the court.

Lauren Erickson had a standout game with 5 assists, 6 strong rebounds and 3 steals in arguably her best game of the year. The team totaled a season high 13 assists from 6 different Lady JV Raiders.

Eight Lady JV Raiders scored in the contest, led by Erica Campbell’s 10 points. Mahima Sangtani had 8 points in two quarters of play. Mary Ziegler had 7, while Abbey Morgan and Naz Martinez both contributed 5 points each. Rounding out the scoring was Georgia Lingerfelt with 3, and Natalie Camera and Abby Clark with a jump shot basket each.
